The seminar is annually organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Association in February at the Moscow Sheraton Palace Hotel since 1999. The seminar was opened by Mr. Nikita Kolesnikov, the Association Chairman, who elaborated on the bilateral trade performance in 2000, the tendencies and perspectives in the current year. Then the floor was passed to Mr. William K. Martin, HSBC Moscow RR Bank, who reviewed banking instruments used in the bilateral trade, stressing on factoring solutions in importer to exporter clearings.
The official part of the seminar was summed up by Mr. Jeff Ambjorn, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Director for Nordic Region, CIS and the Baltic States, delivering the speech titled "Hong Kong in the 21st Century", offering the audience a profound analysis of Hong Kong's historic transformation to "the economy of knowledge", creating the added value due to "the integrator mentality". The speakers answered the attendees' questions, total of 75 Russian exporters and importers attended the seminar. Among the guests, there were the Russian Federation official representatives, colleagues for the People's Republic of China Embassy in Moscow, mass media.
